Bombardier heads south
I remember the day Von Daz purchased a frame, engine cases, some scattered parts as a job lot and then telling me he was going to build a BSA Bobber...That was in 2006-07.
The BSA was then sold to Luke who continued to maintain and enjoy this machine. As it turns Luke now has other commitments and has passed on the torch. It's like a family thing, we are all used to seeing it around and now it has to go.
We have sold the bike for Luke and it is going to a good home where the new owner will have a rare opportunity to enjoy a one of a kind Kustom bobber.
Following is a description of this special BSA.
*** ** BSA Custom Bobber ** ***
Frame is 1947 BSA A7 rigid.
Engine is 1973 A65 Lightning.
Worked engine featuring spitfire cam, gas flowed 34mm headwork, large intake valves, stainless steel SRM pushrods, SRM 840cc big bore kit, SRM high volume oil pump, roller bearing conversion with quil end oil feed.
Cases are highly polished, timing side cover custom made to take fully re-built Joe Hunt magneto. This bike starts first or second kick, has great torque, power and revs smoothly.
Two 34mm Mikuni Carbs with custom velocity stacks feed this alloy head beast with custom headers to allow for quick gas release.
Gearbox is 4 speed with 21 tooth drive sprocket and a custom belt drive open primary system. Everything works smoothly as it should.
Up front, Genuine 1942 WLA springer with Black powder coated springs and chrome fork legs. Special dampner system custom fitted for better handling. This front end was specially engineered to work with tapered bearings and also has custom alloy top tree and risers. Dragbars with alloy leavers help keep everyhting under control.
Front 21" wheel, Avon Rib tyre and XT350 modified drum brake brings you to a stop. Speedo drive is fitted if you desire to put one on. This is not your typical run off the mill generic springer, it has been correctly and painstakingly engineered so it not only looks good but works as it should and very well at that.
Rear 16" wheel, Metzler whitewall tyre, BSA QD hub with alloy brake plate, custom torque stay and custom lever.
Petrol tank is BSA with metallic grey paint and checkered flag old skool number 47. Saddle is period old skool also with 3" barrel springs, slung low for that sleek look. Rear guard is genuine Triumph chopped and radius fit with matching paint work.
Rear tail light is super rare Genuine Lucas spot modified and chromed with custom made number plate bracket. Headlight is Bates type with custom alloy brackets.
Oil tank is custom stainless steel with custom brackets. Oil filter system is custom underside mounted for maximum air flow to aid in oil cooling. Custom oil pressure gauge and alloy bracket.
Modified and chromed chainguard and an incredible sidestand system utilising a Triumph sidestand. Handmade alloy knuckle duster kick starter.
Simple but effective hidden wiring and battery eliminated.
The machine rides and handles exceptionally well. Arguably one of the best heavily customised BSA Bobbers to hit the streets.
Featured in OzBike, Dice #11, Greasy Kulture and TCB magazines.
In conclusion, a well built and thought out custom motorcycle featuring loads of custom work with killer looks and performance to match.

Pretty DS4 promises much
CITROEN'S brand within a brand has just got bigger after an eye-catching new model was officially announced earlier this week.After attracting rave reviews with the DS3 earlier this year the French firm has decided to expand its lineup of luxurious DS models with the DS4, which it says blends sporty coupe style with hatchback practicality and an involving driving experience.
“The DS4 brings an alluring mixture of premium design codes and a bold approach to automotive styling, with an emphasis on driving pleasure and advanced vehicle architecture,” the company said in a statement earlier this week.
“It is a model with a multitude of talents, effortlessly responding to a broad range of owner needs, while enhancing the appeal and vitality of the motoring experience.”
Its smaller DS3 sister has already attracted rave reviews following its launch earlier this year including being proclaimed as the world's coolest car by Stuff magazine.
The DS4 definitely looks the part - check out those Alfaesque hidden door handles - but it'll be sometime next year before we'll know whether the DS brand is a one hit wonder or not.

At the moment, the price is unknown but if I would be looking for a BMW S1000RR and I would hear this news, I must say that I would think a lot about it and I would probably buy this tuned motorcycle.
AC Schnitzer has been fettling BMW for years and the S1000RR is the latest machine to be tweaked – just not in the obvious performance enhancing ways.
The biggest change is the fitment of new adjustable handlebars and yoke which swop the clip-ons for a straight bar and have an adjustable clamp.
Now you may wonder what’s new at this tuned BMW S1000RR by Ac Schnitzer. Well, it comes with adjustable handlebars, adjustable clamp, brake and clutch levers, a carbon fiber exhaust silencer which looks awesome on this motorcycle, crash bungs, performance air-filter and a number plate hanger.

Blitzing the Buttertubs
LAST week, I went to Britain's highest pub. Or did I?The Cat and Fiddle, at the top of the eponymous and much sensationalised mountain pass, does a great pint, but it's not the only bar claiming to give you the highest altitude for your ale. Depending on how you measure it, you'll have to head instead to Yorkshire, more than eighty miles further north, for the Tan Hill Inn.
In all honesty, I'm not really that fussed as to which one's highest - it's not as though they're next door to each other - but having battled the hairpin bends and tricky turns to reach both, I'd say it's the Tan Hill that feels higher. Come here on a wet day and it's a wild, desolate wildnerness offering views right across the Dales towards Cumbria.
Better still, it's more fun to get to, because it's in a part of Yorkshire which remains delightfully deserted even in the middle of a Bank Holiday weekend. If this were the Cat and Fiddle Run, my rear mirror would be filled with bikers and my windscreen with camera vans, but in this captivating corner of the Yorkshire Dales there was nothing. Just mile upon mile of empty roads.
The Tan Hill is well worth tracking down if you're ever up there, but I wasn't all the way up in Yorkshire for a beer. Nor had I taken a Renault 5 via Ribblehead because I wanted to revive memories of racing the Settle express towards Carlisle. Nope, I was here for the Buttertubs Pass.I could try explaining its appeal, but someone off Top Gear's already done a much better job. Here's Jezza:

This innovative feature also allows the driver to make use of the whole revolution range of the engine before shifting between gears, and utilizing the top gear is feasible for any driving circumstance. A heavy-duty cooling mechanism with added radiators preserves favorable temperatures when driving. The engine of the B3 S Bi-Turbo also maintains outstanding fuel economy.
Looking at the exterior, the car’s lively aesthetics are identified through the front spoiler, scooped hood, rear diffuser and a pair of unique double-ended mufflers.
